Founders to perform on campus Friday

The 2017-18 season of the PSU Solo and Chamber Music Series will continue at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, with a performance by the Founders, a five-member group out of New York City that combines classical and folk music with original compositions and pop arrangements.

With songs ranging from Appalachian-themed originals to Radiohead covers, to art songs using famous poetry, Founders reimagines the boundaries of musical styles.

Each musician has worked with acclaimed songwriters such as James Taylor, Sufjan Stevens, Sting, and Björk, as well as with elite classical ensembles such as Canadian Brass, A Far Cry, and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

They have been featured on the stages of Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Walt Disney Hall, and Lincoln Center as well as on television broadcasts such as The Late Show, and Saturday Night Live

The concert will take place in the Sharon Kay Dean Recital Hall, McCray Hall, on the PSU campus.

Tickets are $12 for the general public, or $8 for those over 65 and under 18). They are available in advance through the University Ticket Office in the Weede Gymnasium during business hours, or at the door prior to the performance. Full-time PSU students are entitled to a free ticket.

The Solo and Chamber Music Series is supported by major funding from the PSU Student Government Association.
