Frisbee named COT associate dean

After serving for several years as a faculty member and department chair, Bob Frisbee is stepping into a new role within the Pittsburg State University College of Technology.

Frisbee, who had served as chair of the Automotive Technology Department since 2012, is the college’s new associate dean. He succeeds Tim Thomas, who had served in that role on an interim basis since August.

The position of associate dean was created last year to provide further support to the dean and faculty. Frisbee will primarily focus on the academic side of the college’s operations, while Dean Tim Dawsey focuses on building creative partnerships and interfacing with business and industry.

“I am very excited to serve the students, faculty and staff in the College of Technology in this new role as associate dean,” Frisbee said. “There are many amazing people working in the COT, and I look forward to working with them and Dr. Dawsey to support all the existing activities of the college. I also look forward to the opportunity to work together in developing new and innovative initiatives to grow the impact and outreach of the COT.”

Dawsey said Frisbee’s experience and knowledge of the technology curriculum and industry will prove invaluable to the college.

“Bob is a very intelligent, hard-working member of our team, and I’m excited to work alongside him as we continue to move the college into a new era of progress and advancement,” Dawsey said.

Dawsey also thanked Thomas for his service as interim associate dean.

“This associate dean position is a new experience for us, and Tim Thomas served in that role with incredible class and pride,” Dawsey said. “He really set the tone for what this role could be, and we all thank him for his willingness to step up and serve for the last several months.”
